Troubleshooting your Flocked Bedford Pine: Older Versions
This article will apply to both the 7.5' and 9' versions of the tree from year 2020-21 with standard plugs.
A strand of lights is out on my tree
Check to make sure ALL light strands are plugged into one another correctly inside of the tree.
Please refer to these diagrams:
An entire section (or multiple sections) of lights is out on my tree
Check to make sure ALL light strands are plugged into one another correctly inside of the tree and to the wall outlet. Please refer to the elecrical diagrams above.
2020 Versions - with two-prong plugs and a central extension cord:
If your tree has a longer extension cord running through the middle that each light strand connects to (central extension cord), we can test this extension cord and the unlit section.
- Isolate the unlit section and unplug the light strands of that section from the central extension cord. Now plug something else into it in that spot on the central extension cord. Does this item work? If so, then the section itself may be faulty.
- Now remove the unlit section from the tree. Take the male plug for the lights (connect them together if there are more than one) and plug it into a working wall outlet. Does the section light?
- If the test item you plugged into the central extension cord does not work either, then it would appear that the extension cord is faulty.
- If the unlit section lights when you plug it into a working outlet, then it is definitely the central extension cord that is faulty.
- If the section still does not light when plugged into a working outlet, then the section does not work either.
If multiple sections do not seem to be working, remove all sections from the tree and plug in each individually to a separate working outlet to test. If one section does not light but the others do, only the section that does not light is at fault. Please note which sections work, and which do not.

My tree will not light up at all
Make sure there is power going to the outlet you’re using. Plug something else into that outlet to test it. If that item doesn’t work, use a different outlet for your tree. If using an extension cord, test to make sure the extension cord is working by plugging something else into it.
Make sure ALL cords are connected properly to each other inside of the tree according to these diagrams:

If your central extension cord does not seem to be working, we can try to change the fuse of the extension cord. The fuse is located inside the male plug of the central extension cord that you plug into the wall. Find and open the fuse door. There will be two fuses inside. Only the one that is touching the metal conductors is the functioning fuse, the other is the spare. Take the spare and swap it with the one in use. Close the fuse door, and try to plug in the tree.
If multiple sections do not seem to be working, remove all sections from the tree and plug in each individually to a separate working outlet to test. If one section does not light but the others do, only the section that does not light is at fault.
